Analysis of starting currents of a reflection-type oscillator of diffraction radiation
Abstract
Theoretical and experimental results are presented on the starting characteristics of a diffraction-radiation oscillator of reflection-type; this new type of diffraction-radiation oscillator is based on multiple electron transit over a diffraction grating located inside a high-Q open cavity. Formulas for interaction power and oscillator starting current are obtained and analyzed in a specified-field approximation. Optimal values of electron transit angles in interaction space and in the reflector field are obtained.
