Thermal emission of a medium and the noise temperature of antennas with an axisymmetric radiation pattern
Abstract
A method for determining the noise temperature of an antenna with an axisymmetric radiation pattern is developed; the method is based on the calculation of the effective noise temperature of the medium (i.e., the atmosphere) in which the antenna is located and takes into account the level of thermal noise. The method is confirmed for a two-reflector antenna at a frequency of 4 GHz.
