Numerical solutions of diffraction of electromagnetic waves in an elliptical plasma cylinder
Abstract
Diffraction of electromagnetic waves in an elliptical plasma cylinder is examined for the case of an electrical field vector oriented along its major axis. The relationships between the ratio of the squares of the wave and plasma frequencies and electric and magnetic potentials are plotted for the quasistatic case of a point on the internal surface of the plasma cylinder and also for the cylinder ends; the quasistatic approximation cannot be used in the region of dipole resonance.
