Geometric transformation and data organization in digital image processing
Abstract
Means for the geometric transformation of remote sensing images and the automatic organization of scan line image data files are presented. The algorithms for geometric image transformation, which may be required for the correction of distortions and combination of images, are carried out by a special-purpose digital computing device under the control of the main computer in the process of transferring image data between the scanning digitizer and recorder and the computer. Such a process does not require computing time and large internal memory capacity, and avoids the loss of information content in the transformation process. The data organization concept proposed involves the division of the scan line data file matrices into submatrixes automatically as part of the data transfer process.
