Sirius B and the gravitational redshift - an historical review
Abstract
Greenstein's rejection (1971) of Adam's claim (1925) that Sirius B has a gravitational shift of 19 km per second is critically examined. It is argued that Greenstein's attempt to ascribe Adams' result to contamination by metallic lines is unconvincing.
