Effects of proximity to the pion condensation threshold in inelastic nucleon-nucleus scattering with excitation of unnatural-parity states
Abstract
Using form factors calculated in coordibate space without any truncation of single-particle basis, with allowance for a renormalized one-pion exchange and performing a DWBA analysis of (p,p') reactions accompanied by excitation of unnatural-parity states we shoe that for proton energy Ep >~ 100 MeV the differential cross sections may exhibit a perceptible enhancement at high momentum transfers (q >~ pF). The height and width of the corresponding resonance-like maximum characterise the degree of proximity of the nuclei to the π-condensate instability. Experiments to reveal this proximity are suggested.
