The convective transport from drops in an electric field
Abstract
The low Peclet number transport is investigated analytically using a regular and a composite, double perturbation expansion. A digital computer is employed to obtain exact solutions to the recursive governing equations. Effects of neighboring drops are included in the analysis of an alternating electric field and the induced fluid motion. The results obtained, in conjunction with analyses of transport from a single drop, provide effective heat or mass transfer rates. The net rate of transient convective heat transfer from a body at uniform temperature in steady flow is shown to be invariant to pointwise reversal of the flow.
