The design of high-performance negative-feedback amplifiers
Abstract
Basic design configurations for high-performance negative-feedback amplifiers are presented, with emphasis on the selection of configurations for the basic amplifier and the amplifier stages. The approach is described as a systematic and consistent arrangement of design considerations concerning various quality aspects of information transfer. In particular, basic amplifier configurations for the optimum transfer of information from sources to loads are discussed. In addition, a classification of configurations with one active device is presented; and design considerations relating to optimum noise performance, optimum accuracy and linearity, and optimum high-frequency performance are reviewed. The design of bias circuitry is considered.
