Assessment of the feasibility of obtaining high energy densities with exploding cylindrical shells
Abstract
The present analysis deals with the problem of obtaining energy densities on the order of 5 MJ/g with up to 2 cm long cylindrical wires over time intervals of 0.1 microsec. An evaluation of the Joule energy and kinetic energy of wires in lumped L-C circuits revealed their inferiority to parallel connected distributed-parameter circuits.
