Interaction of the wake of a bluff body with a barrier
Abstract
An analysis is presented of the plane vortex flow of an ideal incompressible fluid near a plane barrier, located normal to the flow. The appearance of nonzero vorticity in the outer flow is caused by the formation of a wake behind the bluff body located in front of the barrier. The method used is based on an unsteady vorticity model which employs the method of discrete vortices. The solution is illustrated by the example of the uniform flow past two parallel plates, one of which represents the bluff body and one of which represents the barrier.
