Prospects for observing the Einstein effect at the total eclipse of July 31, 1981
Abstract
The prospects for observing the deflection of light by the sun's gravitational field at the 1981 eclipse are discussed. As the distribution of stars around the sun will be very asymmetrical, it is recommended that the plate scale correction be determined independently by the method the author proposed at the time of the 1936 eclipse.
