Counts of ultraviolet-bright galaxies and their distributions in clusters of galaxies.

Some 1,100 ultraviolet-bright galaxies were detected on the plates taken with the Kiso 105-cm Schmidt telescope by means of the UGR three-image method. The surveyed area covers about 650 square degrees and the limiting magnitude is estimated to be 17-18 mag varying from plate to plate. The ratio f of the number of ultraviolet-bright galaxies to that of all galaxies is 0.25 on average. This f value is smaller in clusters than in the field, and also it decreases towards the denser central part of the cluster.
