Characteristics and applications of millimeter wave radar devices in the frequency range up to 90 GHz
Abstract
Millimeter wave radar technology is examined for civil and military applications. In comparison with microwave systems, equal performance is observed in millimeter wave antennas with a reduction in the cross section of the antenna. The operation of a Doppler radar is discussed along with a pulse radar and a frequency modulated continuous wave signal radar (FMCW). The circuitry of a 35 GHz pulse radar and a 90 GHz FMCW radar is illustrated. Impatt diode and Gunn oscillators are investigated for noise determination and output performance.
