Modelocking of homogeneous gain lasers; Closed form solutions
Abstract
An integral equation that must be satisfied by modelocked pulses of homogeneous gain lasers is derived from a linear model. Solutions to this equation are obtained when dispersive effects are fully compensated by modulation. The pulses are found to be delayed with respect to the instant of maximum transmission through the modulator; a gaussian function describes accurately the pulse shape.
