Laser phosphate glasses
Abstract
The physical properties of phosphate glasses which are doped with rare-earth ions are investigated, and the application of these materials in various types of lasers is considered. Data on the structure of phosphate glasses, and the spectral luminescence, lasing, thermooptical, and nonlinear-optical properties of Nd(3+)-doped phosphate glasses are examined. Attention is also given to energy transfer and luminescence quenching in phosphate glasses, and to the sensitization of luminescence in glasses doped with Nd(3+) and Yb(3+), and Yb(3+) and Er(3+).
