Laminar mixing of parallel streams of an incompressible fluid of variable conductivity in a transverse magnetic field
Abstract
The paper examines a jet flow with variable conductivity in a layer of mixing proportional to the longitudinal velocity. Moreau's (1963) procedure is used to reduce the boundary layer equations to an ordinary differential equation. A firstapproximation expression is obtained for the distribution of longitudinal velocity. It is shown that an increase of magnetic interaction leads to an increased deformation of the velocity profile and to a broadening of the mixing region.
