Exponential decay and the dispersion of the rate of propagation of initial disturbances in a gas under the action of heat transfer
Abstract
The present analysis deals with the influence of heat- and radiative-transfer on the exponential decay in time of small initial two-dimensional disturbances and their rate of propagation in a gas. This influence is studied as a function of the specific heat ratio and a dimensionless parameter expressing heat-transfer effects. The parameters of disturbance propagation in a heat conducting radiative gas are computed over a wide range of values of the specific heat ratio and the dimensionless parameter.
