Technological principles of heat pipes
Abstract
The book examines technological problems of manufacture and application of heat pipes. The heat exchanger and coolant selection criteria are discussed, noting the corrosion property limitations imposed by materials of construction. The design of heat pipes, their capillary characteristics, and pipe production methods are described; the cleaning of heat exchangers and heat pipes is considered. Heat exchange principles are analyzed in connection with high-temperature, refractory metal, and cryogenic pipes; special problems, such as prevention of metal transport by liquid coolants and hydrogen evolution in stainless steel cryogenic pipes resulting from interaction with the cooling water, are outlined.
