Investigation of the flight trajectories to Jupiter with a flight round the earth.
Abstract
The paper examines the possibility of a transfer trajectory to Jupiter with an active maneuver on the heliocentric transfer orbit and a subsequent flyby of the earth. Some numerical characteristics of such fuel-optimal trajectories to Jupiter are presented. The effects of transfer time and of conditions of encounter with the earth on the transfer trajectory are studied. A trajectory with flyby of the earth is found to provide a significant fuel savings.
