Approximate models of viscous fluid dynamics: Demonstration and methods of calculation
Abstract
Methods for calculating various characteristics of viscous flows are discussed with particular reference to approximate models and turbulence theory. Attention is given to the generalized Prandtl equations approximating the exact Navier-Stokes equations, numerical calculation of laminar flows, and methods of the linear theory of hydrodynamic stability including a rigorous theory of the Orr-Sommerfeld equation.
