Satellite use traveling wave tubes
Abstract
18-GHz and 4-GHz band TWTs for use on board the domestic communication satellite have been developed. The 18-GHz band TWT provides 5 W output power with 45 dB gain and 25% efficiency, and exhibit 25.7 W low power consumption. Based upon life tests, less than 3000 FIT failure rate in 5 years after launch, over 70,000 hours life time are estimated. Screening procedure has been established. For the 4 GHz band TWT, 6.2 W output power, 26.7 W power consumption and 1.4 kg weight, including power supply, have been achieved.
