Radiation of internal waves during vertical motion of a body through a nonuniform liquid
Abstract
Subsonic vertical motion of bodies in a stratified medium is examined by simulation with the motion of a system of point sources. A formula is given for the spectral energy distribution of internal-wave radiation emitted by a source along the axis of motion. Simple formulas are also provided for doublet energy losses in two- and three-dimensional geometries.
