Solution of the thermal problem of the vaporization of conical bodies in strong radiation fluxes
Abstract
A solution of the problem of evaporation of cone-shaped metallic bodies subjected to powerful radiation is presented. The solution is based on a nonlinear hyperbolic equation with discontinuity coefficients; the evaporation constants, including the rates of variation of axial dimensions and the temperature at the top of the body are calculated. The axial dimension variation rate data agree with experimental results.
