Injection-type radiation sources based on multicomponent semiconductor solid solutions
Abstract
The literature on semiconductor injection-type radiation sources, i.e., LEDs and semiconductor injection lasers, is reviewed. Attention is given to: (1) isoperiodic substitution in multicomponent semiconductor solid solutions, (2) optical properties of such solid solutions, (3) the fabrication of epitaxial structures on the basis of quaternary semiconductor systems, and (4) the formation of defects in epitaxial heterostructures. The properties of the following systems are considered: GaInPAs/GaAs, AlGaPAs/GaAs, AlGaAsSb/GaAsSb, GaInAsSb/GaSb, and PbSnSeTe/PbSe.
