Flexible infrared waveguides for high-power transmission
Abstract
A comparison is made between theory and experimentally derived results for the transmission of flexible infrared waveguides fabricated from commercially available aluminum sheet. From this analysis, the paper derives design equations, which can be used to predict the losses of FIT waveguides in useful geometries. Topics covered include straight waveguide losses, bent FIT waveguides, twists in FIT waveguides, mode distribution and divergence angle.
