An experimental study of certain second, third and fourth order velocity-temperature moments in a turbulent thermal wind tunnel
Abstract
The experimental determination of velocity-temperature correlation fields in a turbulent wind tunnel flow is discussed. A measurement technique based on the use of two parallel, rotating, constant-temperature, thin-wire anemometers and statistical signal processing is introduced for the simultaneous determination of different-order velocity-temperature moments in a turbulent flow field. Results of the application of the technique to the determination of the second, third and fourth order correlation moments in a zone of steady-state turbulence in a large two-dimensional thermal wind tunnel are then presented which illustrate the feasibility and applicability of the method.
