Resistance of a circular loop with dipolar current distribution in a cylindrical waveguide
Abstract
The characteristics of a circular loop antenna in a cylindrical waveguide are investigated for the case in which the current has a dipole-type variation around the loop, with particular reference to the dependence of the antenna resistance on the radius of the loop. A comparison of the antenna resistances obtained for the circular loop with a dipolar current distribution around the loop with those obtained previously for the circular loop with a constant current around the loop shows that the circular current loop is more efficient in exciting the TE(01) mode than the dominant TE(11) mode.
