Investigation of compressible irrational flow
Abstract
The vortex sink flow of a compressible medium is examined. Speeds equal to and greater than the speed of sound are achieved in vortex sink flow upstream from a geometrically narrow cross section. Disturbances are distributed in the total field of flow for small angles of rifling. The results are discussed in relation to flow in spiral chambers of turbines which operate with high rotational speed.
