Wave movement of incompressible fluids in thin elastic pipes
Abstract
This paper investigates the expansion of pressure waves in elastic pipes filled with a moving fluid. The laminar flow of a homogeneous, constant density, Newtonian fluid in a long, thin, straight pipe is examined. Linear Navier Stokes equations are presented for axialsymmetric flow movement with the exclusion of volume forces. The movement of a thin circular cylindrical shell wall of isotropic material is discussed in relation to the Donnell equations.
