Physcia opuntiella spec. nov. und die Lebeusform der Sprosseuden Flechten
Abstract
The lichen Physcia opuntiella, newly described here, is a species of dryer localities in the Alps. This very small, inconspicuous taxon is notably distinguished by the formation of segmented, yeast-like, disintegrating propagules. This method of assexual reproduction is apparently formally unrecognised and the term blastidia is accordingly given to the type of diaspores produced. Blastidia appear to be also produced by certain species in other families, both with a crustose and foliose growth habit; examples of these are cited. The various typus of vegetative diaspores produced by lichens are compared and illustrated.
