Treatment of noise-figure calculations in microwave transistor amplifiers
Abstract
It is noted that in the design of microwave transistor amplifiers it is usually desirable to use optimization techniques and to be able to incorporate noise-figure terms in the objective function. Efficient analysis of the noise figure and its sensitivity is thus important. In the present paper, the parameters usually used for describing noise figure performance of transistors are expressed in terms more suited to use with the nodal admittance matrix. In addition, a sensitivity calculation technique is also presented.
