The field of a capacitative tester for metallized fibers
Abstract
An analysis is presented for field distribution in a coaxial capacitative transducer containing a central metallized fiber. Computer calculations indicate that the field is characterized by complex distribution, with a marked increase in regions close to the edges of the conducting layer. It is also shown that the field strength varies little at the surface of the fiber and the conducting layer, with the radial component predominant at the fiber surface. The dependence of the field strength on the fiber radius is hyperbolic and close to that for a cylindrical wire, although the field strength at the conducting layer is higher than in the case of a cylindrical wire.
