The ram effect for a conducting cylinder in a drifting plasma
Abstract
The flux differences between the front and rear face of an isolated conducting cylinder in a drifting plasma are calculated. It is shown that the ion temperature affects the fluxes weakly and that, for most cases, applicable to sounding rockets or spacecraft, the flux difference is linearly related to drift velocity.
