The conservation equations and the irreversibility condition for transonic potential flows
Abstract
A set of conservation equations which is satisfied by two-dimensional steady-state potential flows of an ideal compressible fluid is derived. It is shown that one of these equations yields an irreversibility condition for which only shock-type discontinuities need be retained.
