Monte carlo simulation of three-body ion-ion recombination
Abstract
Three-body ion-ion recombination is studied, for Kr + and F - ions in Ar and Xe + and Cl - ions in Ne, at temperatures from 300 to 600 K and pressures from 0.5 to 8 atmospheres. A Monte Carlo simulation determines the probability of recombination for all ion pairs which approach within a critical separation and diffusion theory is used in the derivation of the macroscopic recombination rates.
