The modeling and generation of visual textures
Abstract
This article describes two methods of generating artificial textures, based on a second order statistical model. By choosing the correct model parameters, these methods make it possible to obtain textures with given statistical properties (granularity, homogeneity, periodicity, desired directions). Such artificial textures are a useful tool both in analyzing the stochastic structure of real images and in studying the discriminatory powers of the eye.
