Graphical output from the Aviolyt AC 1 Analytical Plotter by means of the new Aviotab TA 2 Digital Plotting Table

The digital universal plotting table Aviotab TA 2 is designed to meet new demands in computer controlled plotting. It can be used with an interactive graphic system or a general computer, but the discussion is limited to its use with the AC 1 Analytical Plotter. Requirements for improved speed are met, along with good marking quality and interchangeable marking parts. The mechanics and electronics of the unit are illustrated and include a rigid cross bar driven by a motor with a rack and pinion gear, various marking parts designed for an exact fit, and two microprocessors. The main components of the software for computer controlled mapping are presented and include four system programs; the mapping program in use by the function keys, programs for the differentiation of symbols, initialization programs for the function keys, the marking functions and the marking parts, and programs for the preparation of the mapping paper.
