Design and optimization technique for three-mirror telescopes
Abstract
A design and optimization technique for three-mirror telescopes, based on the generation of rigorously aplanatic configurations, is developed. The theory and five sample designs are presented. Analytically generated formulas not only yield instant designs completely free of the two most undesirable aberrations, but also make possible a further high-quality optimization on a desk-top calculator.
