Calibration of a cw infrared Doppler lidar
Abstract
A method for, and results of, calibrating the signal response against target backscatter coefficient are reported for a Doppler lidar system, including the optics, detector, and data processing. Consideration of the distribution of radiant energy density near the focus of a lidar transceiver permits measurement of a backscatter coefficient from a distributed array of scatterers, such as atmospheric aerosols, based on the diffuse reflectance of the surface of the transfer standard.
