Ultraviolet 45-GW coherent pulse for laser matter interaction
Abstract
In order to obtain a UV coherent power source, a frequency conversion scheme is used which can double, triple, or quadruple the frequency of a neodymium glass laser beam with a potassium dihydrogen phosphate (KDP) crystal. The angular acceptance and conversion efficiency of the KDP crystals, and the temporal behavior of the generated beams have been investigated. 100-GW pulses at 0.53 microns and 45-GW pulses at 0.266 microns have been obtained with the proposed scheme.
