The thermo-optic effect of an optical element in laser resonator
Abstract
An analysis of the temperature profile and the thermal focusing effect induced by a high-order transverse mode laser beam in an internal element is presented. The input-output power relationship is calculated for ordinary and extraordinary waves in LiNbO3 crystal inside the resonator. The calculations agree with the experimental results of Konvisar et al. (1976), and also revise their result for extraordinary waves. The internal thermooptic hysteresis and focusing effect are also investigated experimentally.
