Annihilation Spectrum of Relativistic Plasma.
Abstract
The pair annihilation spectrum of free electrons and positrons in a relativistic optically thin plasma is calculated numerically under the assumption of a MaxwellBoltzmann distribution of electrons. The resulting spectrum is approximated by an analytic function of temperature and frequency. The annihilation rate and the energy emitted per unit volume per second are given by onedimensional integrals which were computed independently of the more complex radiation spectrum calculations. The study is relevant to relativistic lowdensity plasma in objects of astrophysical interest.
