The spectrum of nova RT SER (1909) in 1964, 1975 and 1978.
Abstract
Spectra of Nova RT Ser taken in 1964 (3400-5000 wavelengths), 1975 and 1978 (5700 and 6900, 6300-7500, 7500-8800 wavelength) show emission lines of H I, He I, O I, (O III), (Ne III), (Ne V), Fe II, (Fe VII) and Ca II. No evidence for coronal lines has been found. For 1964 a temperature of about 15,000 K, an electron density about 10 to the 9th/cu cm and a mass of about 10 to the 23rd g of the ionized envelope are derived. The 1975/78 spectra show TiO absorption features, most probably due to a late type star.
