Variability of Cygnus X-1 on millisecond timescales.
Abstract
HEAO-1 scans of Cyg X-1 in the low state are reported for which the time of X-ray events could be determined to within 10 microsec. It is shown that the shortest time scales for which the variability of Cyg X-1 was detected are most correctly described as shorter than 100 millisec and longer than 10 millisec. No evidence is found for fluctuations on time scales of 3 millisec to 30 millisec and shorter.
