A feasibility study of a satellite frequency modulation broadcasting system. Volume 3: Complementary study on the attenuation in the shadow zones, multiple paths, and circular polarization reception antennas
Abstract
The attenuation in shadow zones caused by several obstacles was measured. The statistical reception improvement obtained using space diversity by means of two antennas and two receptors on the same automobile was evaluated. It was found that in all cases a distinct improvement may be expected from a system of diversity reception. Measurements were made using a circularly polarized receiving antenna, resulting in a 3 dB improvement for the received signal.
