Electrically short HF aerial systems

The communications efficiency of electrically short HF aerials in a tactical field environment remains unacceptably poor. Some of results from a detailed, practical study of the problem, performed at full-scale are described and the effect on the aerial performance of several factors shown by the experiments to be important but not previously sufficiently recognized are discussed.
