Evaluation of the properties of scanning photographs as materials for preparing thematic maps
Abstract
The cartographic application of Landsat imagery is evaluated, and criteria for establishing the map scales for which the imagery is sufficiently precise are proposed. According to these criteria, Landsat imagery is adequate for map scales of 1:1,000,000. With special processing, its applicability can be extended to map scales of 1:200,000.
