Analysis of the multiphase inductor-converter bridge
Abstract
Analytical derivations are presented for inductor-converter bridge (ICB) circuits in which energy is transferred from a storage inductor to a load inductor with solid state bridges. These derivations provide complete analytical circuit solution in contrast to previously available numerical (nonanalytical) procedures. The analysis is based on two parallel methods: Fourier expansion of the inverter waveforms; and a novel method based on the inherent waveforms of the ICB, labeled square functions. These analytical values of power flow, inductor currents, and voltages compare favorably with the results of a three-phase ICB experiment at Argonne National Laboratory.
