Development of high current electron pulse accelerators at the Institute of High Temperatures
Abstract
An analysis of the problems encountered in the acceleration of long (0.0001 sec and longer) pulsed, relativistic electron beams (REB) is presented. Further, a description of the parameters of the experimental facilities developed to study these long pulsed beams is also given. The discussion examines the peculiarities of the generation of long-pulsed intensive REBs, as well as energy recycling, which is one of the key problems in development of experimental installations with long pulsed REBs. Attention is also given to experimental facilities for research, generation, transfer and deceleration of long pulsed relativistic beams. Finally, respectively pulsed high voltage generators and their testing are examined.
