Fundamental limitations and design considerations for compensated pulsed alternators
Abstract
Fundamental limitations imposed on the design of a compensated pulsed alternator by the mechanical, thermal, magnetic, and electrical properties of the materials used are discussed. Based on these limitations, power and energy available from such a machine are calculated as functions of machine dimensions. New design approaches are suggested, which extend the operating limits of a compulsator concept.
